Southern Regional College, Armagh
A prestigious design and build Project for the development and construction of a new campus for Southern Regional College constructed on the existing Armagh site at Lonsdale Road. The new building designed to accommodate 1500 students will replace the existing college campus on what is a challenging site with steep topography and a significant collection of listed buildings in close proximity.
The project is a ‘Flagship’ UK BIM Level 2 Project and the Client and Integrated Consultant Team have utilised Revit software from inception to completion. The new campus building has been designed to facilitate world class professional and technical education and training. A key feature is the provision of 1000m² innovation hubs through which students will engage with business and industry in real world industrial projects and challenges. It will also include learning facilities required for learning at degree and postgraduate levels.
This includes the provision of a new state of the art Learning Resource Centre, integrated student social areas and Learning Support services as well as the following:
• Ceramic, photography and fine art studios
• Industry-leading dance, music and performing arts facilities
• Five industry leading construction and engineering workshops
• Two hair and beauty salons – open to the public
The Project includes the site clearance including removal of existing college buildings and associated services and drainage; existing drainage and services diversions; earthworks including cut/fill and removal of surplus excavated / unsuitable material; construction of new fully serviced campus building, site works and associated landscaping.
